Games I Want: Borderlands

87 Bazillion guns. Interested? Borderlands asks what if an RPG and an FPS had a baby? Well I’ve seen the result, and it was a hideous monster which cannot be unseen. Fortunately, Borderlands is only hypothetically asking the question, and the hypothetical answer is a combination of Fallout, Diablo and World of Warcraft: World of Fallblo. Sensibly, Gearbox shortened this to just ‘Borderlands.’ read more
A Look at the Dragon Age Character Creator

As we get closer to November, my anticipation for Dragon Age: Origins steadily mounts. When I saw the character creator had been released I rushed to give it a whirl. Following is a look at its features as well as what the creator tells us about the game itself.
Gone are many of the feats and stat min-maxing of the Baldur’s Gate II and Throne of Bhaal character creators. Bioware has significantly streamlined the choices made when picking a character and it seems likely that far more customization will occur during leveling.
With any luck, Bioware will have successfully combined choices you make in game with the organic growth of your character, and won’t force the player to depend on D&D experts and extensive research to choose their play-style before the game even begins. read more
Games I Want: Brutal Legend

Grim Fandango. Day of the Tentacle. Full Throttle. Uttering one of these titles to a PC gamer from the 90’s is akin to sharing a secret handshake. Those who have played these games belong to a special club: the club of Tim Schafer. (Members of the club must unapologetically fawn over Mr. Schafer, praise his holy name)
The value of these games is inestimable and no matter how revered they are, in my mind they will always be unappreciated classics until they are as well known as Mario or Sonic. Adventure games have fallen out of favor since their heyday over a decade ago, but Brutal Legend promises to take the elements of the genre that made it great and update them for the 21st century.
Games I Want: Uncharted 2

I’m not going to get into the reasons why I want Uncharted 2. Would it even matter? I’m going to buy it, you’re going to buy it; it’s the second coming of Jesus (he’s wearing a cloak made of pancakes this time).
Just in case you weren’t sold yet, however, check out the following Quick Look from Giant Bomb. read more
Games I Want: Dragon Age Origins

Why do I want Dragon Age: Origins? To answer that you have to look past Marilyn Manson songs, repeated sound bites about ‘dark heroic fantasy’ and virtual sex scenes.
You have to look way back to 1998, when Baldur’s Gate was released and my obsession with CRPGs was born. That obsession has been on temporary hiatus, but hopefully Dragon Age can rekindle the flame.
