Friday Links: Gold 'n Fly EditionFrom the  masterminds that brought you Ocarina of Rhyme and Vinyl Fantasy VII comes the next music remix gold standard: Gold n Fly. Drink it in, for its ilk is not frequently seen around these parts.

Keep reading for the fastest gun in the world, Joseph Ducreaux and Oil Stones.

Interesting

Player gets $1mm reward for pitching a perfect game in his MLB game. I imagine it took somebody way less time than the developers hoped.

Starcraft II is going to have Facebook integration. It seems like a lot of these features are going to be elements that date a game a decade from now when Facebook is a distant memory (you heard me Zuckerberg).

Along the lines of Starcraft II with Facebook integration is this post on ‘If Mario was designed in 2010′ which is quite amusing.

Crazy Pac Man and Arkanoid final graphic design project. Certainly more professional looking than any of the final projects I ever did.

The 10 hardest Mario levels ever. I don’t really agree although  maybe it’s because when I was a child and played some of the older games, I was grossly incompetent at hand eye coordination. That being said, I did #1 on the first try.

Which is the hardest Mario level? Survey says: not this one.

Funny

GTA IV prides itself on its true to life physics. Staggeringly lifelike.

Left 4 Dead 2 plushies. These are the only toys my infant children are going to get to play with. It builds character.

Serious Sam: the Second Encounter has a unique ad campaign.

I have brought great shame to my family

The new iteration of the Street Fighter movie white whale: Street Fighter Legacy. Although the site says the original film was a debacle which is just patently false.

Mega64 makes their own Marvel vs. Capcom 3 trailer. 8/10

The future of video games, imagined by a cartoon from the 1980’s. It’s amazing sometimes how cartoons can predict the future so accurately.

Mr. T returns in his most painfully awkward commercial so far: the continuing escapades of the Night Elf mohawk. Behold!

This looks like a reputable fellow. Let's use him to sell some of our goods and or services

Interesting

Damien Walters shows off his parkour skills. I believe they officially qualify as ‘bangin’

The most innovative modular apartment. I could use something like this. If he could do that with 300 square feet, imagine what I could do with my 700!

The same dog shows up at every Greek protest in the past few years. This is absurd. It’s clearly the harbinger of the apocalypse.

I always thought this was what the harbinger of the apocalypse was supposed to look like; apparently it's a Greek dog

Light up clothing is a great business line. I imagine there aren’t too many practical uses for these pieces but it’s still interesting.

Light up clothes are the new hotness, haven't you heard?

This advertisement page for Salsa has a great integration between video and the rest of the web page that I’ve never seen before. Very innovative.

The fastest gun in the world. This is completely absurd, especially because he’s such a nut job. Still, impressive talent.

The wheelchair adventurer strikes again. This guy is pretty hardcore.

Russian oil city out in the middle of the ocean. This is pretty hardcore. Just like the wheelchair adventurer. I guess I use that phrase too much.

Funny

This should really be in the video game section, but I thought everybody would appreciate this one. At least, if you ever played the game Goldeneye. If you didn’t, you weren’t born in the years 1975-1988.

The Joseph Ducreaux self-portrait meme analysis. This is one of those ones that just keeps on giving.

Things that make you feel like an idiot almost instantly. Hyperbole and a Half strikes again.

XKCD had a great color survey. Turns out that all men are idiots. There’s no silver lining to that one.

Darth Vader records for Tom Tom navigation systems. This is a pretty good commercial.

At the next stop sign ... turn right

At the next stop sign ... turn right

Great one man reenactment of ‘Downfall’ (the Hitler meme video). I couldn’t tell from watching whether the guy knows German or just memorized the sounds of the words. Either way, very convincing.

Cosmo magazine should really learn from this. They can fire all their designers and just do random find replace.

The New York Times in 1864 had some solid reporting standards. Not much has changed today.

I have brought great shame to my family

The Russians have a great solution for the undersea oil leak: nuke it. Mostly I just linked this article for the ridiculous photo of the undersea nuke going off. Incredible.

Japanese banana commercials. There’s something not quite right here. I can’t put my finger on it.

Only in Japan could this happen. Although I think the banana advertisements are even more odd

Now that the LHC failed to destroy the world, scientists are trying to figure out what they can do next to succeed. Creating a star? Sure, why not.

Flaming pants pushing around a shopping cart. This one is certainly new. The most jaded campus ever.

McDonalds comes up with some great ad campaigns. Do they have the double down though? I rest my case.

That’s all for this week. Did I miss anything? Hit up the comments!

  • What’s this all about?

My name is Luke Stillman and Backhand of Justice is my take on all things videogame. I've been inspecting ventilation shafts, liberating princesses and dying of dysentery since my first game in 1988. Stay a while and listen.
