Friday Links: Irreplaceable Edition
This proves that not only is Beyonce in fact replaceable, but that she can be outsourced for a fraction of the cost. Chalk another one up for Asia. As you’ll see later, they got Whitney Houston too!

Peter Dille says that the Playstation Move is going to attract hardcore gamers that might have purchased a Wii but wanted more precision. I can’t wait for this motion control bubble to pop so we can get back to hardcore controller gameplay.
Quentin Tarantino says that videogames don’t interest him. That’s strike one, Quentin, but don’t worry, we’re still cool.
Dustin Browder came from the Command and Conquer team to make Starcraft 2. This interview, and the beta, demonstrates that he maintained the Starcraft feel while bringing some of this own unique experiences into the formula.
Morrowind beaten in 5 minutes. Not sure if this is the most impressive speed run visually, but that was a really long game. Well done.
While the title ‘Boxer in brief’ might be sub-par, this is a great piece on SlayerS_Boxer, the greatest of the competitive Starcraft players. Yet another thing that will never catch on in the West.
The Bioware Bazaar. This is an interesting concept – an auction site for real world goods where you have to bid using Bioware specific points that you earn by purchasing their games or completing challenges within the games.

The Bioware Bazaar ... not as cool as a real bazaar
UPS using videogames to train their staff. Now I’ll know who to blame when my package doesn’t arrive on time, or when a school is shot up. Yeah … UPS.
Mega Man mosaic for the win.

Penny Arcade introduces the newest hot kids treat: powdered bone slime.
Final Ninja. This does everything that a Flash game should. Simple, and hilarious.

This is a depiction of a ninja, but not the *final* ninja
Driving a real world car like a video game car. While I still think the camera should have been higher up if they really wanted to recreate the experience, this is pretty good.
The mighty Ultralisk vs. a horde of zerglings. Clearly they’re not the hard counter to the Ultralisk. That would be … everything else.
When hardcore gaming held the line. If you find yourself in green fields, with the sun on your back, do not be alarmed, for you are in Elysium and you are already dead!
I have brought great shame to my family
The Neo Geo rap. I don’t see any way this isn’t going to make its way to the top of the chart. Watch out, Lady Gaga.

Neo Geo in its natural environment
Are you addicted to gaming? If it’s like alcoholism and you only need to have one of these characteristics, then yes I am.
This shouldn’t really be in this section, but there was no ‘awesome’ section. Mega Man hoodie for the win.
8-bit Dr. Horrible. Anything with NPH … I’m in.
Activision’s new Modern Warfare ad. Sure, they’ve had worse, but this one is still pretty juvenile.

Rush Limbaugh’s apartment is completely absurd. Amazing to think this is somewhere in the same city as me.

Although the article doesn't show it, this is an artist's rendition of the outside of Rush Limbaugh's apartment
Twitter mentions predict a film’s box office with extreme precision. Guess I’m going to have to get back on those box office betting sites. Works every time, 60% of the time.
Not that I would want this apartment, but I think it’s interesting. Amazing what you can do with a vision and an interior designer.
If you enjoy Sci Fi or Fantasy novels at all you should check out this year’s Hugo award nominees. Along with the Nebula they’re the two top awards.
Great trick to pull with a candle and a lighter. Going to have to try this one out for myself. What’s the worst that could happen? (Hint: everybody dies in a fire)
Great little pixel video animation in New York City. I would have put this in the videogame section but I thought everybody should have a chance to appreciate it.
Animated section of the new Neil Gaiman book. God I love Neil Gaiman.
Funny
Whitney Houston, the Korean American Idol version. I will always love you.

Whitney, you're looking different lately. More Asian for one thing ...
RedLetterMedia’s Attack of the Clones review. Sure, it’s super long, but still hilarious. A strong follow up to the Phantom Menace review.
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: 1988. I would totally read this. Doc Brown has assembled a heroic team.

Although The League 1988 would have been incredible, it still would have only been the 2nd best thing to come out of 1988
This German meat supplier is not pleased. I think this would be worth it for the story if I was one of the diners at the restaurant.
Great prank. Probably not going to try this one out although it’s pretty epic.
Greatest sports reporting in the world? They need to have this guy do this at every possible opportunity.
Parking infringement notice. This guy is lucky he was down under and not in the UK where they probably would have called him a pedophile and jailed him.
I have brought great shame to my family
These guys are doing god’s work: testing the effects of various harsh environments on marshmallow Peeps.
A tribute to mega movie monsters. Haven’t seen a lot of these but I can’t decide whether I’m glad or not that these days are a thing of the past. Now I guess we have to settle for the vomit-inducing Cloverfield.
This is the worst possible sounding nuclear accident. How did he die? Well, he uh … heart attack, ma’am.
That’s all for this week. Did I miss anything good? Hit up the comments!
