Interesting

Dragon Age 2  may be following in the footsteps of Mass Effect 2 in terms of massive simplification. I can’t decide whether this will be a good thing or not, considering Mass Effect 2 was great but not as good as Dragon Age. Also, Dragon Age was the highest selling game in Bioware’s history. Odd choice.

Beyond Black Mesa: another Half-Life film fan trailer. Again, this one is fairly well done. I don’t know what the budget for any of these are, but they’re better than your average fan project.

Plants vs. Zombies 2. It comes. Repent, sinners!

Plants vs. Zombies 2: Hopefully not this puzzle shit

Killzone 3 adds cinematic deaths. This reminds me of the Drama Engine from about 18 months ago where everything would nearly hit you even if it was always going to miss. I think it’s a great innovation.

In honor of the closing of PC Zone, I give you the entire first issue in high res scans. Enjoy.

The Legend of Zelda goes very lo-fi. I think they should use this as their next art style. It will be like Kirby’s Epic Yarn.

Yet another reason why China is the worst place in the world (yes, even including Nigeria): they can’t sell video game equipment there by law.

Old Half-Life trailer from when it was still in development. Thank god they delayed it a year to keep working on it; this would have been the biggest bag of shit.

Super Mario overlay on real world objects. A little tough to explain, but definitely a cool digital effect.

Gnarcade has an interesting if slightly strange video game and extreme sports inspired music video. Portal seems awfully out of place compared to the other vintage games.

Funny

Oh man this trailer for a God of War movie is absolutely brilliant. We need one of these for Gears of War or something now too.

They should really get Zach Braff to direct one of the God of War games as well. Maybe a reboot of the franchise is in order

See Juri high kick someone in Street Fighter High: The Musical. I don’t have the first clue what is going on here … but I like it.

This is just like that meta-game of collecting all 8 red coins in Mario without letting the extra life get you. Play through Sonic 2 without collecting any rings. Only this time, it’s hard coded into the game in a genius way.

I have brought great shame to my family

Yet another indication that young people have too much money these days: an anime ferrari.

Interesting

The new unmanned stealth fighter for the British Empire will dominate all comers. Watch out India. We’re baaaaack!

Apple Inc. tops the list of most vulnerable software. This proves my notion that obviously the most successful program is the one that is broken into the most because hackers get the most bang for their buck. The sad fact is that Apple isn’t nearly the most popular yet. I guess hackers are fanboys, too.

Bullet proof custard armor. It’s not just slathering custard on yourself. Trust me.

Interesting story about potential fixing on The Price is Right. The price is wrong, bitch!

The greatest dance number ever filmed. For those of you that think dancing doesn’t require herculean strength … think again.

The best dance routine ever? First we served them, then they served us back. Now it's on.

50 My Little Pony mods for geeks. I think if you’re modding your My Little Pony collection, you’re already awesome enough that the term geek doesn’t necessarily apply.

Apparently nobody wanted to sell the Etch-a-sketch, assuming it would be a failure. Their loss, I suppose. Kind of reminds me of all those people who wouldn’t produce Avatar.

Super high tech parking garage. Not in the US, of course. We barely have serviceable internet here.

The new Porsche hybrid supercar looks incredible. Anybody have $630k to spare?

Plasma arc radio. This is incredible to the point that I had to verify that this is possible on Wikipedia before I believed it wasn’t a hoax.

Just imagine what kind of music you could make with *this* plasma arc. I guess you could also horribly kill yourself too. Compromise ...

Funny

Zach Anner is Pitch Perfect. He obviously should be doing a travel show at the very least, and hopefully much more,  to showcase his genius.

Old Spice has been responding to individual internet users in their ‘Responses’ campaign. Isiah Mustafa has really upped his game with this one.

Any idea when the next bus is scheduled to arrive?

Swedish Chef sings the electronica classic Popcorn. The coordination on this video must have taken some time.

Improv Anywhere had a great Star Wars skit on the subway. I wish I was occasionally there for one of these. Maybe no pants day.

Star Wars skit? Chewie, prepare the jump to light speed!

Penny Arcade has a great idea for how to make the Harry Potter universe a little more visceral. Extreme!

Gary Numan performs Cars with an orchestra of actual cars. The real star of the show is Gary Numan’s badass strut.

I have brought great shame to my family

The high speed robot hand is coming for us. When it arrives, I certainly don’t want to be at ground zero.

Drunk Ewoks try to sexually assault Al Roker. Was this a random description? Only a click through will reveal the awful truth!

Rupert Murdoch is a psychopath: confirmed.

That’s all for this week. Did I miss anything? Hit up the comments!

  • What’s this all about?

My name is Luke Stillman and Backhand of Justice is my take on all things videogame. I've been inspecting ventilation shafts, liberating princesses and dying of dysentery since my first game in 1988. Stay a while and listen.
