Friday Links: Viral Marketing Edition

This has to be viral marketing for something. I just can’t figure out what it could possibly be.
Keep reading for homemade rockets, Cee Lo and the Knight Rider boost button.

Interesting
New details about Dragon Age II are making it sound better and better all the time. I like the story innovations and most of my reservations are gone.
More details about Diablo III are always a good thing. Especially given Blizzard’s increasingly impressive track record.
Funny
Activision commercials from 1981 were nearly as bad as early Microsoft commercials.
I have brought great shame to my family
We knew sales of APB were bad, but not this bad. This is just embarrassing, especially given it’s by the creator of Grand Theft Auto.
Mega Man Online is a new game coming out by Capcom, and in a long line of insane Japanese advertisements, the first video is some sort of incoherent Mega Man anime.

Mega Manime ... why would this sell a videogame? Nobody cares, Japan

I remember reading about the test to become a Lego master builder for Legoland – you had to make a giant perfect sphere or something. This guy makes replicas of famous buildings.
These guys are making a giant homemade rocket which they’re going to try to launch soon. They’re towing it out to the launch pad at sea with their homemade submarine. It’s going to be the greatest suicide ever.
This ridiculous 100mph crash was caught on the camera of a police cruiser. Miraculously, the guy survived. Of course, trust the internet to remix it in a hilarious way fairly quickly.
The traffic jams in China are a little worse than those in the United States. This is almost as bad as those miners who are trapped in their shelter until Christmas.
It’s decided then: James Cameron is the spokesperson for earth. Or at least NASA has been hiring him to help out mother Earth. How come it’s Mother Earth and Mother Russia, but not Mother United States?
When the robots take the surface we can all retreat to our underwater forts.

Whatcha gonna do when the robot pandas come for you?
Star Wars as a silent picture has its own brand of charm. Especially the silent picture adaptation of the soundtrack. Good times.
Funny
Cee Lo’s new single ‘Fuck You’ is pretty good. Will it go to #1 on the charts though, that’s the real question.
No son of mine will play Oregon Trail the way you do. Depicable.

Bierstadt had a slightly different version of the Oregon Trail than the 1980s. I guess he was a contemporary so I'll trust him
What time is it? Fun slides time. Shit yeah.
An appropriate response. Sometimes there isn’t really any choice at all.
Mr. Shake Hands Man strikes again. This time it’s the superstar Bill Murray who falls victim to his unstoppable power.
The correlation between searches for porno and Ramadan in Morocco is pretty funny.
I have brought great shame to my family
Sharks rule the oceans? I beg to differ. What now, sharks? The game is up!
This club’s dress code might as well say ‘no black people.’ Not that this is a new phenomenon.
Crazy dictators have some pretty pimped out jets. Too bad the interiors all seem to be inspired by Star Trek circa 1960.
Of all the devious things for killer robots to do, infiltrating the sock pairing trade is the worst yet.
Apparently there are machines in Japan where they are like a photo booth but the output is stickers that change your appearance to be cuter? Strange. The cute Mona Lisa doesn’t actually look that different. Does that mean she’s already cute or that there’s no hope for improvement?

What is the point of 'cute stickers?' Strange
Epic pool dunks. I’m surprised at no point did one of them hit the edge and die.
The beer half marathon. The only real way to run a half marathon. New olympic sport 2016?
That’s all for this week. Did I miss anything? Hit up the comments.

What’s this all about?
My name is Luke Stillman and Backhand of Justice is my take on all things videogame. I've been inspecting ventilation shafts, liberating princesses and dying of dysentery since my first game in 1988. Stay a while and listen.
